The Lupus Wolfride Grand Fondo
The Lupus Foundation
of America – Heartland Chapter is proud to announce that the 75 cyclists
who rode 50 and 100 miles in the 2009 Lupus WolfRide GranFondo raised
$16,000 to support Chapter services and research to find the causes and
cure for lupus!
Once again in 2010 lets ride for the cause
and bring Lupus to its knees-See you on the ride
Created in
the tradition of the GranFondo's of Europe, the Lupus WolfRide
GranFondo is a long-distance non-competitive ride/race, where all
participants' ride times will be recorded. The Lupus WolfRide
GranFondo is certainly not your typical charity ride!
The
routes are equivalent to the Half Ironman (56 miles) and Full Ironman
distances (112 miles), designed for non-competitive cyclists and racers
alike, with a start/finish in beautiful Columbia, Illinois, traversing
the fast-rolling hills of St. Clair County.
The 2010 Lupus
WolfRide GranFondo is expected to bring approximately 200 cyclists
together to help the Lupus Foundation of America, Heartland Chapter find
a cure for and spread awareness of lupus.
A dedicated team of
professionals and volunteers are there to support cyclists along the
ride, including SAG support and rest/refuel stops along the route.
There
will be a celebration and tribute to those who are fighting or have
battled this devastating and chronic disease that will include food,
music, and more.
The day will finish with a pasta dinner to
satisfy the appetite you've worked up after a great day of cycling!
