New Course and Finish line
The Lewis & Clark event has enjoyed tremendous growth over the past nine years. This year, in order to improve the running experience, the 2010 courses have undergone a few changes.
The half marathon course will remain largely unchanged. It is flat, fast and includes a scenic river crossing. A short segment will be added in the middle of the course so that the finish line can be moved to a more central location in Frontier Park.
The marathon course, however, will substantially change between mile markers 15 and 20. As they have done in the past, after passing by the by the half marathon finish line, marathoners will move from the roads to the Katy Trail for a few miles. Unlike in previous years, however, at mile 15 the athletes will return to the roads and proceed southwest through neighborhoods that sit atop the bluffs of the Missouri River. After reaching the 20 mile mark, participants will descend back to the river bottoms and follow the Katy Trail back to Frontier Park, where they will make a short loop to the finish line.
When the running and walking is over, athletes will enjoy Michelob Ultra beer, Great Harvest Bread, ice cream treats from North Star and other food and beverages. St. Louis Injury & Rehab will be providing massages and Action Sports Images will be snapping pictures of finish medals and their happy owners. Meet your fans and family under the Michelob Ultra dome after the race and then wander over to relax (or dance, if you can) in front of the Michelob Ultra party stage and listen to the music of the Delicious Fishes. Plan your finish and post-race celebration with the help of the Finish Line Map.
